Theme Reveal Date

The Art Fight Theme Reveal stream will start at 2:00pm UTC and run until 8:00pm UTC, at which point the team reveal animation will play!

Art Fight Theme Reveal Stream

  • Please join us on June 15th for the 2024 Art Fight Theme Reveal, which will stream live on our YouTube. The stream will start at 2:00pm UTC and run until 8:00pm UTC, at which point the team reveal animation will play!
  • The Art Fight Theme Reveal is an animation made annually by the talented Axel that announces the theme for this year's Art Fight. We hope you can make it, but don't despair if you can't - after the stream, the themes will be announced onsite, and the animation will be posted to our YouTube.
  • Leading up to the reveal, we'll also have a ton of in-stream activities hosted by mods like Quiplash, Gartic Phone, and some fun art games! We've also got word in that there'll be an exciting announcement after the reveal, so make sure to stick around. I mean what, who said that?

Art Fight Start Date

  • Like every year, Art Fight 2024 will start on July 1st at 6:00pm UTC.
  • We recommend that you start preparing yourself now by updating your characters, bookmarking other people’s characters, and getting those refs into shape... there's no time like the present!
  • Remember that drawing attacks before Art Fight starts (July 1st, 6:00pm UTC) is against the rules. Not only is it unfair to others, but it is a direct violation of the spirit of Art Fight. If you attempt to do this, your account may be banned. Please be considerate and show good team spirit!

Art Fight 2024

Information about changes made to the site, planned updates, and more!

Art Fight Keychain Updates

  • Keychains are now in production, and users who pre-ordered one will receive an email once they've shipped. They'll start shipping out soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
  • The onsite achievement for users who purchased a keychain will be processed before the event begins. Thanks for your patience!
Site Rules Updated

  • We've given our site rules a long-needed update. Before the event begins, please make yourself familiar with our updated Rules
  • Alongside editing them for clarity, our rules have been updated to reflect our updated Filters Guidelines, our disallowance of AI-generated content, and general information regarding allowed characters and content on the site.
Filters Guidelines Updated

  • We have updated our Filter Guidelines. Please take the time to review them here, as we have made some changes to certain types of content allowed on Art Fight. Notably, we have renamed Sexual Themes to Suggestive Themes, which has been significantly updated as a category. We are also moving away from using the term "Maturity Filters" in favor of simply "Filters".
  • We'd like to apologize for making these changes right before the fight, as we understand that these kinds of updates can be overwhelming. Internal systems and resources took priority this year; in the future, we will release major rule updates at least a few months before the fight to give users ample time to review them.
  • To make up for this, we will be providing users with a grace period to change or remove any affected content. No penalties will be issued to users whose content may need to be re-filtered or removed from the site. During this time, moderators may hide offending characters and notify users that they need to be filtered or removed, and users will be able to migrate newly-disallowed content off-site. This grace period will last until July 14, 2024. After this point, content found that is in violation of the updated Filter Guidelines may be subject to stricter administrative action. Note that this grace period will not apply to content that is uploaded after the posted date of our new Filter Guidelines.
  • If you have any questions concerning our new Rules or Filters Guidelines, please contact a moderator or ask in one of our Discord's help channels.
Updated DMCA Procedure for Copyright Infringements

  • In an effort to reduce site-mod strain and balance the creative expression of our users with respect for copyright laws, we have updated our DMCA procedure.
  • Uncredited photo backgrounds are now handled through reports from the infringed parties via the DMCA system rather than through site reports. We encourage users to credit photo backgrounds if they are using them for attacks.
  • Below are the key points regarding what is now permissible on-site and what will be subject to takedown:
Permissible Content

  • Original characters (OCs) in canon characters' clothes.
  • Redrawing canon characters or logos on accessories; it is acceptable to depict canon characters on accessories such as T-shirts or as plushies, but they must be hand-drawn renditions.
  • Alternate universe (AU) characters can now bear a closer resemblance to canon characters, as long as the AU has at least one noticeable difference from the canon design.
Content Subject to Takedown:

  • Exact replicas and re-uploads of canon characters.
  • Directly uploading company logos as characters.
  • Posting images that are not explicitly free-to-use, such as collages or moodboards. You may however host these moodboards or collages off-site (such as on Pinterest) and link them in the character's bio.
May/June Changelog
Head over to our Changelog to find out more about what's changed!

  • Like in April, we focused on improvements and additions to our moderation tools. In the past, moderators were not able to view certain report types due to permission roadblocks. This has been fixed, and believe that this will lead to better response times on reports. The Tag Search has also been optimized and load times should also improve. Both of these fixes are in testing and will be live on the site this week.
  • We are also working on implementing a way for users to delete their account. We're hoping to release this before the fight begins, but may not be able to due to the internal work it requires. As always, we thank you for your patience regarding this.
  • Have an idea for Art Fight? Let us know here! We'll periodically check up on this form and add submitted suggestions to our Trello board.

Edit (06/12/24): Regarding our new Suggestive Themes rules
- We plan to release a separate newspost clarifying and adjusting some of our recently changed rules

I'm glad I'm not the only person who's concerned about the maturity rules; these things were already filtered out for kids, removing anything remotely suggestive when sex/arousal was never allowed on here in the first place feels really weird. (and before someone calls me a predator, like a couple people have to others in the comments, no i am not advocating for porn on a site where kids hang out, that's fucking absurd)

Things you can wear at pride shouldn't be banned. People are not out there plowing in the streets willy nilly unless there's a blizzard.

And many other people have already said it but anything and everything is already someones fetish, no matter how benign you think something is, it continues to amaze me lmao. Why can I draw a naked, flaccid body but if I draw some strips of leather on it, suddenly that's not okay, meanwhile my other drawing of a guy getting flayed and gutted alive gets a pass? This is something that's bothered me for years with this game tbh. People that lie about their intent are far fewer than people that are just regular adults wanting to draw something that makes them happy, behind a filter where like minded people can go check it out, and other people can safely avoid. I think if this stays the way it is, it'll only going to make better liars, which means more kids being exposed to fetish stuff :T

This isn't even touching how drawing certain real world body types get artists accused of being perverts

I'm gonna wait a bit before I run in and change some wording on my character permissions; I've never posted or recieved anything even close to pornography here, but now I'm feeling kinda paranoid
overly-exaggerated proportions, and extreme emphasis on certain parts of the body.

They really put over in my OC “(O)li(v)i(er)” 😂 🤦🏻‍♂️ with his comically wide shoulders

The actual issue here isnt "artfight HATES ME THEY HATE ME SO MUCH" melodrama, it's that rules like "focus on part of the body" or "exaggerated proportions" are even MORE impossible to moderate than the already extremely subjective stuff like suggestive content. There is no problem with wanting an art site to be SFW, but how are you supposed to tell the difference between, say, a foot fetish piece with focus on that part of the body and a drawing at an extreme angle that happens to show the feet close to the camera? They look the same in most cases, and you wouldn't even know it. Whats the difference between an exaggerated, impossibly proportioned character and a character if a unique species that naturally looks like that, without any fetish intent? There is a difference between a character actively *engaging in* a fetish or kink (which I understand banning as it would fall under sexual content), but some stuff is so vague its really hard to tell. There should've been some sort of addition explaining how this is going to be moderated, since with something so subjective its not really clear what counts and what doesn't if you don't actually say it

Honestly, I'll be satisfied with any theme other than Seafoam vs Stardust :0 those two things aren't a dichotomy or related, like other themes. They aren't opposites or two sides of the same coin...it just seems like a weirdly random theme.

Different strokes for different folks though! Personally, I've got my fingers crossed for Arctic vs Tropic!
A lot of people have articulated about the rules so I won't, but do want to say I'm so excited about the theme reveal!
The thing about trying to restrict "exaggerated proportions" is that this is an art site. Unrealistically exaggerated proportions are a huge part of cartooning. Look at Total Drama Island, or really any kids' cartoon from the 2000's. It's such a slap in the face of artistic expression to try to restrict this. And even if we concede that maybe there's art out there that has an "obvious" enough focus on a body part to clearly be fetish art. . . why does it matter? So long as it's behind a filter, who does it hurt? Was it really worth causing this much confusion and lack of trust in the site to crack down on art that, from my view, hurts no one?

If you're going to change anything, just improve the filtering system. Let us specify what we're warning for besides general "suggestive content" in the same way that Toyhouse does. [this goes for the "sensitive content" filter too, which is so vague as to not be of much use at all].

I'm already set on participating this year, but if this ruling isn't rolled back, I can't see myself participating in 2025 and beyond. All this has done is give me the impression that Artfight cares about optics and getting rid of uncomfortable art more than it does actually improving the site. I'm worried that Artfight has reached the point where they feel that they have enough users and donations that they can finally get rid of "those gross fetish artists," the same way that every other site seems to be doing nowadays. I don't want to believe that it was that reactionary of a decision, but I can't find any other explanation for such a nonsensical rule change.

LuminolVeins Ah, gotcha, sorry if I misunderstood. Yeah, this is a very icky situation, I'm trying to be an optimist and like you said give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm not excusing them though, the vagueness of this is ridiculous.
Liliez That's... Actually kind of also what I mean? My cup size is something that has caused people to go googling the upper ranges of bra sizes because they don't believe that J-cups exist. <:) And the fact that if I drew myself, I'd probably be mistaken for fat fetish material as well. But! I do understand giving them the benefit of the doubt and waiting to see what they say. I do hope they have some clarifications, because as it stands this doesn't feel like the best look.

LuminolVeins I get what you're saying, but honestly, I think by "overly-exagerated proportions" they mean extreme exaggeration that could cause harmful and unhealthy body expectations. So not just, for example, a realistically big chest, but a huge one, and a very tiny waist, or things like that. Stuff that isn't possible. But I can't speak for Artfight (and I do genuinely understand why you're upset, don't get me wrong), so we'll just have to see what exactly they mean. Hopefully they'll offer some clarification.
man just say you hate fat queers and get it over with
"Works involving fetishes, even if they do not contain genitals, are disallowed on site. This includes (but is not limited to) fetish gear, overly-exaggerated proportions, and extreme emphasis on certain parts of the body." This... Is incredibly puritan. None of my characters would fall under this, but if I say, drew a sona that's true to my in-person self, I would likely fall under 'fetish material' due to my own 'overly-exaggerated proportions'. Who are you to decide what is and isn't a fetish from some people? Are you all absolute children? I'd get better treatment if I showed off a sketchbook full of gay sex to my church than if I drew cartoonishly here. I'm deeply disappointed and hope you rethink and elaborate on some aspects of these rules.

Also, "Pre-made brushes and assets are okay, but excessive use of pre-made brushes (such as for trees, etc.) must be rated as "No Background". " Stupid. I'm not breaking my hand in order to draw a flower field when I do the rest of the bg by hand. You guys are really being kind of losers here.
RoseyVaporeon 2023 achievements are usually given near the end of June before the fight!
I still havnt gotten some missing achievements from last year for being in team werewolf? is that a bug or have they not been given out yet?
depth what are you confused about? Do you need help with anything?
