People's reactions re: fetish/kink ban are completely overblown. We haven't even seen these rules in effect yet. Fetish art is obvious. And if it isn't, nobody will perceive it and report it as such. If somebody reports something clearly non-fetish as fetish, like an overweight OC in a totally normal situation/pose, they'll be rejected by the mods or, if they do it frequently enough/against a user or group of users enough, they'll probably be banned for harrassment and wasting mods' time. Most people are probably going to be too busy actually, you know, drawing and stuff to bother with being little baby mods.

Also god forbid there be one website on the entire internet that disallows kink and fetish content lol.

I feel like the site should just do all or nothing with these rules. Either you ban sexual content all together or improve the filtering system. I obviously don’t participate in artfight in that way but it just seems really vague like others have stated. Other than that I am excited for artfight this year. Looking forward to it!!

Oof... yeah, I'm gonna +1 to everyone's issues with the fetish/kink rule wording, and also having first-hand experience with people making uhh very uncharitable assumptions about fat characters+cartoony proportions. Regardless of whether or not kink art should be allowed, I think it's very important to avoid catching so much in the crossfire; especially when it can cross into potentially censoring marginalized traits that real people have. Aside from that, I feel others have already said it better than I could, but overall I just really can't trust how subjective and "vibes"-based the current wording would end up being. I just can't see it ending well at all.

I also feel kind of iffy about what's being considered eye trauma; I feel like, without specifying that the filter is needed specifically for fresh injuries or active violence, it honestly is also teetering into requiring a filter on scarring/permanent injury. That seems like an oversight here worth mentioning.

On a lesser note, (but I haven't seen it mentioned) I don't really... Get the whole meat thing? Am I missing something??? I think it makes enough sense if it clearly resembles a body part, but like... steak?? I guess I'm more confused than anything, but I guess that bit just feels completely redundant with everything else in the gore section.

I guess a lot of my issues here just come down to feeling like the filter guidelines here took one step forward and two steps back in terms of being easy to keep track of, remember, or entirely make sense of. I'm sorry if I'm coming off overly critical/nitpicky here; I am still excited for artfight as per usual! I wouldn't be heading into my 11th go of it if I wasn't. But I'd also be lying if I said I'm not nervous about some of these. I hope at least the fetish and eye rules are reconsidered.
To be clear, I think there are some positive changes here too; especially the loosened copyright rules. But at least at the moment, I'm pretty disappointed.

I have been in art fight for a few, but with the new way of rules it makes me worried about my art and characters. People already pointed out the issue regarding the fetish thing, as someone who grew on the internet and seen by my own hand ANYTHING CAN BECOME A FETISH AND EVERYTHING IS A FETISH.
Dragon? A fetish
Dinosaurs? Yes a fetish
It makes me worried about the new fight, people can and will abuse the new system to ban other that in the end are innocent. There should be clarification before the fight, so artfight be handled easily.

learn and there are content filters and a block button, those exist for a reason and don't get yourself into things that really you don't understand.

I was very excited for Artfight this year but those filter guideline updates are removing the joy a lot.
Not only that they got released on such a short notice and not everyone is keeping up to date with updates on artfight till the event starts but also the way you guys want to remove fetish and sexual content?
The Filtering in the past years felt so good, so well managed and explained but now it feels like you could get flagged for anything that someone else sees as a fetish. 

Definetly not a good change.

Speaking as someone who has participated from that front before, with the direction that ArtFight is headed in and continues to do so -

I do honestly think that it makes more sense to remove “sensitive/sexual content” from the site entirely than to continue slowly siphoning it down with narrower and narrower parameters, especially with lacking clarity from prior years. For starters, many of the rules there I already see many easy loopholes that people will try to exploit, and second of all it does indeed appear to be a matter of cherrypicking (note: I 100% believe NSFW subjects should be sentient & 18 or over at the BARE MINIMUM. That is not what I mean). It makes much more sense just to stick to artistic nude categories & mentions of burlesque dancers in bios than it does to have that be a full separate category, no? Genuinely curious.

Nevertheless, still excited for the teams announcement and will be making sure all my bios are clean for all my characters accordingly!
